About Hancey Law Offices

Meet
Mark Hancey

I was always an attorney. My parents will say it started when I could first talk–they could be right. I loved and lived 4 years of high school policy debate and extemporaneous speech. I graduated from Brigham Young University in 3 years with a degree in English, Cum Laude. I took my last final on a Saturday and started law school on Monday. I obtained my law degree from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, again Cum Laude. While in law school, I was on the school’s moot court team where I traveled to several competitions, and was awarded The Order of Barristers.

I returned to Cache Valley to start my legal practice. I appreciate the freedom and responsibility of owning my own business. It’s something I have in common with many clients. Many of my business clients are large enough to need me on speed dial, but small enough to not put me on payroll. They can find me when they need me and trust me to solve problems and protect their interests.

Tiffany and I met (in a church meeting) in 1996. She had already graduated with a degree in secondary education and was teaching at Preston Junior High. Our first date was the July 4th activities at Willow Park and watching Independence Day. A year later we were married. We have four wonderful children. As of a year ago, we are empty nesters. For our recent 25th anniversary year, we hiked 25 peaks. A grand adventure and a perfect metaphor for life. Tiffany runs—her stress relief. Many marathons under her belt, including Boston. I love the outdoors and exploring in every part of the world. But I especially love Africa. Hemmingway spoke the truth when he said; “If I have ever seen magic, it has been in Africa.” Speaking of Hemmingway, English, Art, and humanities educations have blessed our family in so many ways. We have writers, teachers, engineers, musicians and artists. But alas, no other attorneys.

I also am indebted to so many for my faith and freedoms and successes. I serve when called in my Church. I served in several city offices, including recent election as City Council member. I am thankful that those who know be best (citizens in my precinct) voted in mass for me and helped me carry the day.

I invite you to visit Hancey Law Offices to discuss and analyze your legal needs, as well as map out appropriate, aggressive and cost-effective action to serve you.

I look forward to hearing your story.
